Recombinant Protein Expression Services

Recombinant proteins are biological products produced by genetic engineering to achieve high-level expression of target proteins in host cells, which are widely used in life science research, in vitro diagnostics, drug development and bioprocessing. Compared with proteins extracted from natural sources, recombinant proteins feature prominent strengths including controllable sources, excellent batch consistency and reliable biosafety. Relying on our well-established molecular cloning and protein expression platforms, we have developed multi-system expression protocols covering prokaryotic systems (Escherichia coli) and eukaryotic systems (yeast, insect cells and mammalian cells), allowing flexible selection of the optimal expression system based on the structural and functional requirements of target proteins. During production, we adopt high-density fermentation and multi-step purification procedures paired with a rigorous quality control system to guarantee that the resulting recombinant proteins possess high purity, potent biological activity and outstanding stability.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which sources of expressed recombinant proteins can you purify?

We provide recombinant protein purification services for multiple expression systems, covering samples derived from prokaryotic (E. coli), yeast, insect cells, mammalian cells and cell-free expression systems. We tailor optimal lysis methods, purification strategies and buffer systems for each expression platform to guarantee the purity, bioactivity and stability of target proteins, fully meeting the requirements of downstream experiments.

  • What kind of samples do customers need to provide to initiate purification?

Customers may submit samples in various forms, including bacterial pellets/cell pellets, culture supernatants, lysate supernatants and crude purification samples. We generally recommend clients to provide complete sample information (expression system, tag type, theoretical molecular weight, buffer composition and intended application). Based on these details, we will evaluate the optimal purification workflow and offer guidance on sample pretreatment to minimize the risk of purification failure.

  • Do proteins require tags for purification? Can untagged proteins be purified as well?

Tags are not an absolute requirement. Tagged proteins (such as His, GST, Strep, FLAG, etc.) facilitate the establishment of efficient and stable affinity purification workflows. For untagged proteins, we can combine multiple purification strategies including ion exchange chromatography, hydrophobic interaction chromatography and size-exclusion chromatography. Customized purification protocols will be developed based on the target protein’s isoelectric point, molecular weight and stability.

  • Can endotoxin removal be performed? Are the resulting proteins compatible with cell experiments?

Yes. For proteins intended for cell or animal studies, we offer dedicated endotoxin removal protocols as well as endotoxin quantification testing services. Endotoxin control is especially critical for prokaryotically expressed proteins. We take rigorous measures throughout the entire purification workflow to minimize endotoxin contamination and prevent secondary endotoxin exposure.
