Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
SLC24A5, a member of the solute carrier family, encodes a sodium/calcium/potassium exchanger that plays a critical role in melanin biosynthesis and pigmentation in humans. Variants of this gene are significantly associated with skin color variation, particularly in populations of European descent where the A111T substitution in the protein is linked to lighter skin pigmentation. Its function in melanosomes and modulation of intracellular ion concentrations underscores its importance in the process of melanocyte differentiation and the regulation of melanin production. Recent studies have revealed that SLC24A5 also influences other biological processes, including cellular response to oxidative stress and potential impacts on skin cancer susceptibility. Given its pivotal role in pigmentation, SLC24A5 has become a key focus in research not only for understanding the genetic basis of skin color diversity but also for its implications in dermatology and evolutionary biology. The recombinant protein of SLC24A5 is valuable for studying its structure-function relationships, examining the effects of specific mutations, and exploring potential therapeutic applications for pigmentation disorders. Researchers are particularly interested in how the modified activity of this transporter contributes to phenotypic variations across different populations and how these variations have adapted to varying environmental conditions through evolutionary processes.
