Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    TRIM5

  • 简介

The TRIM5 protein is a capsid-specific restriction factor that prevents non-host adapted retroviral infection. TRIM5 acts as a pattern recognition receptor that activates innate immune signaling by triggering E3 ubiquitin ligase activity upon binding to viral capsids. TRIM5 restricts various retroviruses and regulates autophagy. TRIM5 Protein, Human (His, B2M) is the recombinant human-derived TRIM5 protein, expressed by E. coli , with N-His, B2M labeled tag.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

TRIM5 protein is a crucial component of the innate immune response, particularly in its ability to restrict retroviral infections. This protein belongs to the tripartite motif (TRIM) family, known for its roles in various cellular processes including immune regulation and pathogen defense. Research into TRIM5 began with its identification as an antiviral factor that restricts HIV-1 replication in certain primate species, particularly Old World monkeys. The specificity of TRIM5 for different retroviruses has been linked to its ability to recognize and bind to the viral capsid, leading to degradation and preventing viral replication. Additionally, TRIM5 has been shown to be involved in the modulation of cytokine production and influencing the signaling pathways related to immune responses. The study of TRIM5 is not only significant for understanding the evolutionary arms race between viruses and their hosts, but it also highlights potential therapeutic avenues for enhancing antiviral responses in humans. Researchers are exploring the mechanisms by which TRIM5 operates, its potential for gene editing applications, and its interactions with other components of the immune system. This ongoing research aims to elucidate the complex role of TRIM5 in immune defense and pave the way for novel strategies in combating viral infections.
