Analytical Data

  • Gene name

    BMP-15

  • 简介

Bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP-15; GDF9B), also known as growth differentiation factor 9B (GDF9B), is a polymorphic ligand protein of the TGFβ family and is only expressed in follicular cells. BMP15 is closely related to GDF9 and synergistically regulates the genetic development of follicles. BMP15 is involved in p38 MAPK and HIF-1α/SCF signaling pathway, respectively, and can up-regulate the expression of anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) related stem cell factor (SCF) in granulosa cells.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

BMP-15 (Bone Morphogenetic Protein 15) is a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily, primarily expressed in the ovaries and known for its crucial role in female reproduction, particularly in oocyte development and folliculogenesis. Research has shown that BMP-15 plays a significant role in regulating ovarian function and fertility, influencing granulosa cell proliferation and differentiation. Mutations in the BMP-15 gene have been associated with various reproductive disorders, making it a focal point of study for understanding infertility and genetic factors affecting reproductive health. Additionally, BMP-15 has garnered attention in the field of biotechnology and reproductive medicine, as its recombinant protein can potentially be used for clinical applications in ovarian stimulation protocols, enhancing fertility treatments. Advances in recombinant DNA technology have allowed for the production of BMP-15 in vitro, facilitating further exploration of its biological functions and therapeutic potential. Ongoing research aims to elucidate the signaling pathways involved in BMP-15 action, its interactions with other reproductive hormones, and its potential implications in assisted reproductive technologies (ART). By comprehensively understanding BMP-15’s mechanisms, scientists hope to develop novel strategies to improve fertility outcomes and treat reproductive disorders in women.
