Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
-
Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
HEPH (hephaestin) is a multicopper oxidase that plays a critical role in iron homeostasis and is primarily expressed in the intestine and brain. Its primary function involves the oxidation of ferrous iron (Fe2+) to ferric iron (Fe3+), which is essential for the proper transport and absorption of iron from dietary sources. Disruptions in HEPH activity have been implicated in various iron-related disorders, including iron overload conditions like hemochromatosis and neurodegenerative diseases. Research into HEPH has gained traction due to its potential as a therapeutic target for these conditions, as understanding its structure and function can unveil mechanisms of iron regulation in the body. Recombinant HEPH proteins have been developed for in vitro studies to elucidate the enzyme's biochemical properties and to assess how mutations might impact its function. Studies have demonstrated that alterations in HEPH can lead to significant physiological consequences, highlighting its importance in maintaining systemic iron balance. Ongoing research aims to elucidate the precise mechanisms by which HEPH interacts with other proteins involved in iron metabolism and to explore its potential as a drug target. Overall, the study of recombinant HEPH proteins is crucial for understanding iron metabolism and developing novel therapeutic strategies for managing iron-related diseases.
