  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Calcitonin, a peptide hormone produced by the parafollicular cells of the thyroid gland, plays a crucial role in calcium homeostasis, primarily by inhibiting osteoclast activity and reducing bone resorption. The discovery of the CALCA gene, which encodes calcitonin and its related peptides, has spurred interest in understanding its biological functions and therapeutic potential. Research has demonstrated that calcitonin can be beneficial in treating osteoporosis and related bone disorders by decreasing the risk of fractures. Furthermore, its analgesic properties have garnered attention for potential applications in pain management, particularly in conditions such as arthritis and certain cancer-related pain. The recombinant production of calcitonin and CALCA-derived proteins allows for detailed study and potential clinical applications. These recombinant proteins offer advantages in terms of purity, consistency, and scalability, facilitating research into their mechanisms of action and efficacy. As scientists explore the multifaceted roles of calcitonin, including its interactions with other signaling pathways and cellular processes, the development of novel therapeutic strategies is on the horizon, harnessing the potential benefits of this hormone in regenerative medicine and orthopedic treatments.
