  • Gene name

    Irisin

  • 简介

Irisin Protein is an important cytokine secreted by muscles during exercise, which has multiple functions such as regulating metabolism and improving health. Irisin Protein, Human/Mouse/Rat (HEK293, Fc) is a recombinant Irisin Protein expressed by HEK293 and carrying a C-hFc tag[1][2][3].

  • Application

    SPRMSTBLIITCELISACELL ASSAYDRUG SCREENING

  • Biological Activity

1.Measured by its ability to inhibit proliferation of A549 cells. The IC50 for this effect is 0.651 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity is 1.5361×106 units/mg. 2.Measured by its ability to induce p38 MAPK activation in 3T3-L1 mouse embryonic fibroblast adipose-like cells. 1 μg/mL of Recombinant Human Irisin can effectively induce p38 MAPK activation. Measured by its ability to inhibit proliferation of A549 cells. The IC50 for this effect is 0.651 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity is 1.5361×106 units/mg.

  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

Irisin is a myokine that was discovered as a product of the fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) gene, which is released by skeletal muscle during exercise. Its role in the conversion of white adipose tissue into brown-like adipose tissue has garnered significant interest in the field of metabolic research. This transformation enhances energy expenditure and may contribute to improved metabolic health, making irisin a potential therapeutic target for obesity and related metabolic disorders. Research has shown that irisin can influence various physiological processes, including glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and lipid metabolism. Despite its promising implications, there are still questions regarding the mechanisms of action of irisin, its receptors, and the potential effects of irisin supplementation. Furthermore, studies on the recombinant form of irisin have focused on its stability, biological activity, and the physiological responses it elicits in different tissues. Understanding these aspects is crucial to harnessing the therapeutic potential of irisin in combating obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other metabolic diseases. As researchers continue to explore the multifaceted roles of irisin and its applications, the development of recombinant irisin proteins for clinical and therapeutic use may pave the way for innovative treatment strategies aimed at enhancing metabolic health and overall well-being.
