简介
Gliomedin protein is a collagen-rich homotrimer that critically binds to NRCAM and NFASC and plays a key role in establishing and preserving nodes of Ranvier on myelinated axons. It mediates Schwann cell-axon interactions and promotes sodium channel clustering for efficient action potential propagation. Gliomedin Protein, Human (HEK293, N-hFc) is the recombinant human-derived Gliomedin protein, expressed by HEK293 , with N-hFc labeled tag.

Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
Gliomedin is a glycoprotein primarily expressed in the peripheral nervous system, where it plays a crucial role in the formation and maintenance of myelinated axons. It facilitates the interaction between axons and Schwann cells, significantly influencing the development of the nodes of Ranvier, which are essential for efficient nerve conduction. Recent studies have highlighted Gliomedin's potential as a key regulator in neuronal repair and regeneration processes, particularly in the context of nerve injuries and neurodegenerative diseases. Researchers are increasingly interested in Gliomedin as a therapeutic target due to its involvement in neuroinflammatory responses and its potential to enhance axonal regeneration and remyelination. Additionally, the recombinant expression of Gliomedin has opened new avenues for investigating its molecular mechanisms and functional properties in various cellular contexts. Understanding the intricate role of Gliomedin in neuronal health could lead to innovative approaches to treat neurological disorders, making it a significant focus in current biomedical research aimed at restoring nerve function and promoting neuronal survival.
