  • Stability Test

The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

  • Storage & Shelf Life

Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

  • Shipping

In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description

BBS2, or Bardet-Biedl Syndrome 2, is a protein that plays a critical role in the development and function of cilia in human cells. Mutations in the BBS2 gene are linked to Bardet-Biedl syndrome, a genetically heterogeneous disorder characterized by obesity, retinal dystrophy, polydactyly, and renal anomalies, among other symptoms. The BBS2 protein is part of the BBSome complex, which is pivotal for the trafficking of ciliary membrane proteins and the assembly of cilia. Understanding the structure and function of BBS2 is essential for elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Research has focused on the recombinant expression of BBS2 to investigate its biochemical properties, interactions with other ciliary proteins, and potential therapeutic targets. By studying the recombinant BBS2 protein, scientists aim to uncover the pathways involved in ciliary dysfunction, which has broader implications for understanding related ciliopathies and developing gene therapy approaches. Ultimately, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of BBS2's role in cellular processes and its implications for human health, offering hope for more effective interventions for those affected by Bardet-Biedl syndrome and similar diseases.
