Stability Test
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37℃ for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate isless than 8% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
-
Storage & Shelf Life
Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -20℃ to -80℃. Store it under sterile conditions at -20℃ to -80℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Shipping
In general, recombinant proteins are supplied as lyophilized powder and shipped at ambient temperature. For bulk packages, the proteins are provided as frozen liquid and shipped with blue ice, unless otherwise requested by the customer.

Protein Description
The ST8SIA4 protein, also known as polysialyltransferase, plays a crucial role in the synthesis of polysialic acid (PSA), a unique carbohydrate that is involved in various biological processes, including neural development and plasticity. PSA is prominently expressed in the nervous system and is essential for cell-cell interactions, neuronal migration, and the regulation of synaptic plasticity. Aberrant expression of ST8SIA4 and its polysialic acid product has been implicated in several neurological disorders, such as schizophrenia, autism, and Alzheimer's disease, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target. Recent studies have focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying ST8SIA4's enzymatic activity and its regulation, as well as its interactions with other cellular components. Researchers are increasingly interested in characterizing the structural aspects of ST8SIA4 to understand how it recognizes substrates and integrates into biological pathways. Additionally, innovative approaches, such as recombinant protein expression and biophysical methods, are being utilized to develop specific inhibitors or modulators of ST8SIA4 activity, which may provide new avenues for treating associated neurological conditions. Understanding ST8SIA4's role in health and disease could pave the way for novel therapeutic strategies that leverage polysialic acid's unique properties to enhance neuronal function and mitigate the effects of neurodevelopmental disorders.
